As a lifelong resident of Amite City, Mayor Walter Daniels, III has a successful record of serving the community.
Prior to being elected mayor, Walter Daniels served for twenty-three years as an Amite City Councilman and four years representing the Amite City area as a member of the Tangipahoa Parish School Board. He also served as Vice President At Large for the Louisiana Municipal Association. He also has law enforcement experience, having served in the Village of Tangipahoa, Town of Roseland and with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office.
A graduate of Amite West Side High School, he attended Grambling State University and he is a member of Butler AME Zion Church. Mayor Daniels is a former Process Operator at Transamerica Refinery and Transportation Field Coordinator for the Tangipahoa Parish School System. He also has law enforcement experience, having served in both the town of Roseland and with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office.
